Injection-Molded PEI components

PEI (Polyetherimide) belongs to the group of amorphous high-performance polymers and is characterized by a combination of high heat deflection and mechanical strength, which can be further enhanced through the addition of additives like glass fibers.

PEI offers similar properties to polyarylsulfones (such as PSU), but provides a higher continuous service temperature of up to approx. 170 °C, as well as increased stiffness and dimensional stability. In addition, the material offers high creep resistance and inherent flame retardancy. Compared to PEEK, PEI can be a more economical alternative with very good mechanical properties, provided that the requirements for chemical resistance and continuous service temperature allow its use over PEEK.

Typical applications for injection-molded PEI components can be found in medical technology, aerospace, and electrical engineering. Common applications include electrical insulation components, connectors, components for medical devices, and structural parts requiring high temperature resistance and electrical insulation properties.
