Injection-Molded PEEK components
PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) is one of the most well-known high-performance polymers. The odorless, brown material offers high stiffness and strength across an extremely wide temperature range of approximately -60 °C to +300 °C. Its excellent chemical resistance and sliding properties make PEEK a highly versatile material that is often used as a substitute for metals or ceramics. Due to its relatively high price, however, PEEK is often not the most economical solution for less demanding applications.
PEEK offers higher wear resistance than PESU and a continuous service temperature of up to 250 °C. Compared to materials like PPS, PEEK provides higher hydrolysis resistance and is better suited for use in steam and hot water environments. Due to its low moisture absorption and high dimensional stability, PEEK is also suitable for precision components with very tight tolerances.
The potential applications of this material are as versatile as its properties. Injection-molded PEEK components are used in the semiconductor and electronics industries, where high wear resistance and electrical insulation properties are required. Due to its chemical resistance and low moisture absorption, PEEK components are also found in laboratory, pharmaceutical, and process engineering applications. In aerospace and medical technology, PEEK is used due to its low weight, while its physiological safety and biocompatibility make it suitable for applications in the food industry as well.
